Macklin Nursing Home Group Celebrates
30 Years of Caring
As one of Northern Ireland’s longest established, private nursing home groups, the Macklin family
& their teams at Ratheane Private Nursing Home, Coleraine and Leabank Private Nursing Home,
Ballycastle are this year celebrating their 30th anniversary. In a week dedicated to National Carers
across the UK, it seems appropriate to reflect on the success achieved by all those involved in these
local nursing homes which are renowned for exceptional care throughout the community.
Ratheane which added a further 11 new luxury bedrooms within the last 12 months, was recently
followed up by the opening of group’s newest home, Parkmanor in Dunmurry. The new facilities
adds to the other nursing homes in the Macklin Group including Leabank in Ballycastle and Arlington
in Belfast, as well as the award winning 4 star, Malone Lodge Hotel Belfast.
“Both projects in Belfast and Coleraine have been a great success and have been warmly
acknowledged by all concerned. We are delighted to have received such positive feedback from all
our current residents, staff and local community and thank everyone for their words of support and
best wishes” said Brian Macklin, managing director.
“Not only have we extended our homes but we’ve strengthened our senior management team
with the addition of several key personnel. We believe that this positions us perfectly to continue to
build on our existing reputation for providing some of the best nursing care in N.Ireland. The award
winning groups’ success is directly attributable to our teams professionalism across each of the
homes, where our core value of delivering exceptional care and good family ethos have become the
cornerstone of the group for the last 30 years.”
And no ‘professional’ is better known locally than Mairead Osbourne who has worked with the
family for the past 24 years. Along with Matron Wendy Mc Master in Coleraine, and Sheila Magill
and Veronica Mc Kinley in Ballycastle, the group’s team includes more than 40 members of staff who
have worked with the Macklin family for over 20 years.
“Our ethos of providing a ‘home from home’ atmosphere where particular attention is paid to the
individual care and needs of our residents has remained constant across all our homes which has
contributed to their success within the local communities over the last 30 years and is something we
intend to continue for many years to come” concluded Cara Manager, director.
